HERD DANCES

Herd Dances is a short film collaboration with director and cinematographer, Liam Pickhardt. The film explores the interconnectedness between line dancing and agricultural vocations, and in particular, shepherding. It highlights the ancient connection between humans, herd animals and communal activities (like folk/line dance) that have sustained us for millennia. It shows how the bonds that we create on the dance floor and in the fields are sustained through acting like a herd. View trailer below.

Filmed and directed by Liam Pickhardt on Chumash land at Oak Heritage Ranch in Upper Ojai, CA. Many thanks to Cole Bush, owner of Shepherdess Land & Livestock, who generously donated time, food, animals, hay and infrastructure to this project.
